What our volunteers say
Volunteering can be a route into employment, or an opportunity to try something different. Nearly one third of volunteers who leave us go on to paid employment. Volunteering with us provides skills and experience that is valued by many employers. A lot of our paid staff, including our Chief Executive, started out as volunteers.
All volunteers are fully supported and supervised throughout their involvement with Citizens Advice. There will be a paid member of staff that you can turn to for extra support if you feel you need it.
We make sure that you are not put in situations that are beyond your abilities, and will work with you to help ensure that you find volunteering with us both challenging and rewarding.

We are currently looking for Community Volunteers and Transcribing Volunteers - please see role specifications to learn more about the roles.
Role specifications:
The process for recruiting volunteers for both the Community Volunteer and Transcribing Volunteer roles will be the same. You do not need to choose your preferred role at this stage.
Here’s how the recruitment will unfold:
Optional Online Q&A (12th February): This is your chance to ask any questions and learn more about the roles.
Application deadline 8pm Monday 17th February
Informal telephone interview: Successful applicants will be contacted by telephone for an informal interview. We’ll chat about the role, your interests, and your motivations. If this goes well and you’re still interested in the role, we’ll invite you to the next stage.
Assessment Day (8th March): During this day, you will have the opportunity to dive deeper into the role, understand the responsibilities, and get a feel for the training provided.
Once appointed, you will receive full training on the role. Additionally, there may be an opportunity to cross-train into the other role, allowing you to expand your skills and experience.
If you have any questions and are unable to attend the online Q&A please email - Remy.williams@Citizensadvicemanchester.org.uk
